Description
A hand-carved stone pump trough in classic horseshoe shape. The pump trough would sit below the spout and against the upstand of a farmhouse hand-pump. The drain hole can be corked to hold water to create a water feature, bird bath, dog's water bowl etc. Alternatively, the hole can be left open to drain for the trough to be used as a planter. Dating from the late 1700s, typical in shape of the Oxford area, carved with soft curves in Cotswold stone.
