Description
A bird bath carved from Serpentine stone unique to Cornwall's Kynance Cove on the Lizard peninsular - England's southernmost tip. The octagonal basin's rough hewn interior contrasting with a smoothly turned exterior. Beautifully marbled stone in the colours and textures of the sea, carved in lovely proportions. Minor chips and nibbles - which the birds do not seem to mind ! Serpentine stone is reputedly a healer of the heart and soother of the mind.
Late 1800s.
