Description
Pairing a carved gritstone quern with a curved and four-square Wiltshire limestone staddle base creates a striking sculptural form. The piece is highly adaptable : individually bold as a sculpture - it can also serve as a bird table or pedestal for other items or plants. The quern may be as early 100 A.D., while the staddle base is from the 1700s. The chisel strokes of their respective carvers, centuries apart, are evident throughout.
