Description
A rarely surviving example of a boxed set of boxwood croquet balls by the premier makers J JAQUES + Son Ltd, of London. The lid's instructions for "Treatment of Croquet Balls" bring attention to duties so easily neglected - the reason so few survive ! The original owner's name and address are in pencil on inside lid. Evocative of Summer days passed long ago. Circa 1900.
