Incredibly tactile mallet carved in tight-grained boxwood in late 1800s as a dressing tool for shaping lead sculpture and sheet. It is superbly useful and versatile in the kitchen for crushing garlic, bruising herbs, lifting pastry, spreading cream, dressing icing etc
Lovely of line and shape - echoing Japanese and Scandinavian forms - and exceptionally elegant in an artisan's tool.
It has been scrubbed and sanded till scrupulously clean and conditioned with allergen free mineral oil - 100% food safe.
