FOX BUST
Cotswold stone
1800s, Gloucestershire Sold

Dimensions

H 40cm (16") x W 26cm (10.25") - a lifesize mask

Description

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮 A most atmospheric bust of a fox mask. Superlative lichen patina over Cotswold stone. Weathering suggests the collar was originally recessed into a stone plinth, either as a focal point or atop a gateway column. Far too strong and absorbing a character not to be admired closer to hand or indoors.
C19th, Gloucestershire.

Stock No. 1802
