Description

A rare design of leather pail from the 1800s. Decorative and highly adaptable in uses around the house - as a flower vase holder, wine carrier or cooler, spaghetti bin etc. The initial 'G' is pressed into the hide together with an indistinct maker's mark. Robust and sound, some wear around the padded rim. The base is round with the cavity slightly oval and one external side has a stitched panel of three diagonal slants. Why the panel and the padded rim ? To tell you the truth - I'm not sure, a bit of mystery !
