Description
A large, rare and stylish oval copper "Copper" in exceptionally sound condition with beautiful patina. Most unusual to be found in England as an oval form and scarce to see such a nice combination of copper lustre, blue and grey oxidisation - together with the pocks that long age brings. Very presentable indoors as a log basket or outside as a slug-proof planter. Hand fashioned in the 1800s, the construction uses both rivets and pressed dovetail seams. The base (worn thin in use) has been beautifully reinforced by O+I in copper with manganese bronze bolts for another century of use.
