Description
Old, beautiful and exceptionally tall, carved in 'Devonian Age' red sandstone of the Anglo-Welsh borders. The striated markings, rare and striking, emphasize the piece's height and slim elegance. The broad top is profoundly weathered in craters, moss and lichens. A chip to one, long edge of the base belies its age - being hand carved as far back as 1600s.
A truly singular, sculptured piece with great presence.
